Carlops Making History Photo Exhibition
The four village centers of Carlops, West Linton, Romannobridge, and Dolphinton have been awarded funding from “The Knot” and the COOP to run a photo exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is to involve and engage the community and promote links between the four village centers.
Each village center will display the photos in their village halls, with the possibility of a larger exhibition at the end, combining all the work. We have many historic photos of the village, but as a village, we have little official photo documentation of the present or the last 30 years. It would be fantastic if we could remedy this and add to it with new work.
My Cherished Item and I
Two photos – one of you, and one of an item, with a brief bit of text about the item and why you love it. There are no other rules; the photo of you can be in your house, in the garden, up a mountain, or from 10 years ago, and the item can be anything you care about. The two photos and the text will be laid out on an A4 sheet, printed, framed, and exhibited as part of the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, you can keep the frame and picture.
There is a form below for uploading the info
Recent History
We would like photos of Carlops from the 1970s up to the present day – anything you think shows the day-to-day life of the village. It could be your garden, building work being done, your front room, or the pub nights before it closed. Depending on how many we get, we will go through them and pick the best. As these will be on film, we will arrange a drop-off service, and they will be digitally scanned with the originals returned to you. These will be printed and displayed,
Either: Drop off @ Vallance cottage, please stick in an envelope with your name and house name / number on the outside so they can returned to you,
or if already digital Email them to: alex@rgcs.uk . [you can contact me with questions at this email address as well]
